Ramune!
This is what Ramune looks like
June 9th, Day 6:
Third day of work! Back to the grind again…breakfast, work clothes, and office! It was extra hard to wake up today because I could hear the rain outside while I was laying in bed. But, somehow I managed to drag myself out of bed. The rain was actually barely there when we finally left. The work day was mainly full of research and a brief meeting with Sam-san to go over a slideshow overview of Japan’s market situation. Research, research, and more research about trends, market predictions, and Japan’s economy=the day. Lunch we went to a Japanese restaurant and had some Yakisoba noodles, which were delicious minus the fact I got a miniscule oil stain on my shirt…why can I not stop being a klutz! Working from 9-5:30pm, we were ready to get walking and out of heels by the end of the day. However, before coming back to the hotel we had a very important goal in mind. Since arriving to Japan, I have talked almost every day about the drink Ramune that I had when I was in Japan several years ago. Looking at every store and vending machine we pass, I consistently had no luck. But, today would be different!! Ramune is a soda drink that is opened by hitting the marble at the top of the bottle (mouthpiece) into the soda. I will have to show you a photo or video. Leiko-san, wonderful as always, showed me where 3 grocery stores were around the office, and soon Bean and I were off on our search. Obviously looking lost, an old Japanese man nicely offered to walk us to our first grocery store. The elderly people in this country are sooo cute and nice. Reaching the grocery store, we quickly searched for Ramune and food to bring back. Unlucky in our drink search, we started picking up noodle bowls for lunch, peanut butter, and bananas! Yet, I could not leave the store without asking if they had Ramune…hoping I had missed it. Too my surprise they had it!! So, naturally we stocked up (3 per person) and checked out. Out of excitement we walked about 5 feet and put down our bags to open the drink. With some difficulty, mainly in strength, Bean finally was able to push the marble down and release the WONDERFUL, REPRESHING RAMUNE! Haha. Goal…check J Now to our hotel to get out of the work clothes, but mainly the heels. Soon we found ourselves changed and walking towards our favorite restaurant near our hotel for dumplings and fried rice. Deciding that we needed to restock on Tim Tams, since sadly we could not resist our desires the night before, we first stopped at a discount store and bought a pack each to take home and 2 to take to the office and spread the Tim Tam Slam love. Our favorite restaurant didn’t let us down once again and we basically never wanted to leave. Now for the most important part and best way to end our night…watching GALAXY QUEST!
