June 10, Day 8:
Friday! Seeing that to be the most important fact of the day, we decided to sleep in and skip breakfast. Grabbing only a few pieces of toast, we soon headed to work. There were no major events on the schedule for Bean and I today so the day existed in Research land. Maybe because it was Friday I found it extra hard to concentrate, but I had minimal success in researching and being productive. I drank coffee, tea, and got up for water several times just to move. For lunch Bean and I took over one of the meeting rooms and ate our add-hot-water ramen bowl. Well, and of course there was more funny picture taking. After lunchtime it was back to research and maybe the occasional time I looked up Japanese slang words. Overall it was a long and mentally tough day, but at least the weekend began at 5:30pm. And because we are the most exciting people alive, naturally Bean and I came back and ended up napping for 3.5 hours. I woke up randomly to see the clock read 10:30pm and felt even more unproductive because Bean and I really wanted to run, eat dinner, and see if we could watch the World Cup at some sports bar?...tomorrow? Dinner consisted of calling in Chinese food, which is the only other option we know of besides Dominoes pizza. Looking at the various pictures I tried to discern which picture looked "safe" and "edible." There was a tofu dish over rice (looked like curry?) and so I ordered it. When I got online and typed the characters into a translation, I was informed I ordered "harshly flax old lady whom the body increases it is tasty in the boiled rice." good luck to me? The meal ended up to be fairly normal, but surprisingly I THINK there was meat in the sauce for the tofu. I thought tofu dishes were almost automatically vegetarian but hey, my stomach is now full so cheers. Bean and I watched Iron Man while we ate and now, ready for more sleep after our nap, we will most likely go to bed in 3...2....1...zzzz
