Gooooo GIANTS! baseball :D
Ogasawara and Sakamoto are our boys! We are really fitting in...
June 8th Day 3:
So seeing that our breakfast would be the same each morning and realizing it was our last free morning before the work week, Bean and I decided to splurge on a breakfast meal on the streets. However, due to various morning activities and dilly-dallying, we left the hotel in time for an early lunch. Before we left we decided to go to Tokyo Dome City, which was a 15 minute train ride from the hotel. Walking the opposite way from the station, we first got lunch at a place we had spotted the day before. The dish of our interest= chicken curry! The curry dish did not disappoint whatsoever and was absolutely mouthwatering (well worth the walk there and back). After finding the train station and understanding the Nambuku line, we were off towards Tokyo Dome. As we arrived, we soon found out that there was some type of event going on, and with the clear presence of baseball jerseys in the crowd, we knew it was baseball! Bean’s dad had mentioned that we must go to a baseball game while we were here, so we hurried to the ticket booth and got a cheap standing ticket (not to mention sweat bands). Finally finding our way into the right gate, we realized how crowded the stadium was becoming and how standing room was quickly filling. So, naturally, when the ticket checker briefly left his post, Bean and I walked into the stadium seat area and settled down into a random row. Each time someone passed the row our hearts began to beat with intensity and nervousness out of the possibility our plan would be foiled. Only after being asked to move 2x did we finally find our “permanent” seat. Once we figured out the chants of the overly enthusiastic fans and cheered for the player on our sweatband, we calmed down enough to have heart to heart talks and watch the exciting baseball game. Afterwards, we found ourselves walking through endless floors of hippie, flowery boutiques that included the coolest clothing and shoes. Unable to resist, which is very uncharacteristic of me, I bought a cool shirt and pair of shoes. Just wait, this stuff is cool. Unable to spend anymore time walking through shops, we found ourselves at a FOR REAL ramen house! Bean tried to find out if the ramen was fishy for about 15 minutes, and finally a English speaker informed us that there was no fish scent or taste...making it ok for consumption ha. It is hard to put in words how amazingly good real ramen is and how it will be hard to eat ramen in the states every again, but it is sooo true. Fully satisfied, we got back on the train and headed home. Grey’s anatomy marathon catch up was on our list once more and after the last 3 episodes we had gone through every human emotion ha. Shower, bed, and preparation for our first work day became first on the list…I wonder what tomorrow will bring!
